PLANO — Freshman Nicole Walton hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 18 points as the McLennan Community College Highlassies opened conference on Saturday with a 67-58 win over Collin County.
The Highlassies (9-6, 1-0) trailed by as many as 10 in the first half, but they closed the half on a 9-2 run and then took a lead early in the second half on back-to-back treys by Priscilla Galliguez.
MCC, which also got 11 points from Eileen Pineda, stretched its lead to 16 before coasting down the stretch. Four players scored in double figures for the Lady Cougars (9-7, 1-1), led by Amber Murray with 13.
