The Midway boys and girls swept the team titles at the Spooktacular swim meet Friday at the Waco Family YMCA.
The Midway boys’ team posted a team score of 532 points to ease past second-place Copperas Cove at 284. The Midway girls’ team won with 460 points over second-place finisher Cleburne at 405.
Midway’s Emily Neubert set a new pool record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.46 seconds. Neubert, a sophomore who finished fourth at the state meet in both the 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle in February, also won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.01.
The Midway girls claimed relay victories in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay, while the Panthers boys’ teams won the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
“Our relays were right on and definitely a key to winning the meet,” Midway coach Dan Marlin said.
Other Midway swimmers who claimed individual titles included Mary Catherine Driese in the girls’ 200-yard freestyle, Kristen Cochell in the girls’ 500-yard freestyle, Kayley Valentine in the girls’ 100-yard breaststroke, Ben Moore in the boys’ 100-yard freestyle and Alec Sanchez in the boys’ 100-yard breaststroke.
