LETTERS: Readers sound off on missing census forms, Margaret Mills, Baylor Bears and Dr. Mike Attas
Where is the census?
Unlike some people, I look forward to filling out the 2010 census. I view it as a civic duty, like voting, paying taxes and jury duty.
But I still have not received my form. I did, however, receive a card admonishing me for not returning the census form that I supposedly had received.
I called the number on the card, hoping to get a person. I instead got a calling tree.
Option two was for those wishing to request a census form. When I chose that option, the automated voice asked if I had the identification number listed on my missing census form. Of course, since I did not have a form, I did not have the number.
Giving a “no” answer elicits the response that without the proper identification number, unfortunately they cannot send you a census form to complete.
There was also a warning that filling out the census form is mandatory and you can be fined for not doing so.
So if the U.S. Census Bureau could find me to send me the admonishing letter, why can’t they find me to send me the form?

Release from prison
Welcome home, Margaret Mills. Surely 17 months has been far too long for you to be in jail.
You and your husband, Coke Mills, have paid far too heavy a price for this, and we the residents of this county owe you an apology for your mistreatment.
You were wrong, and you had to pay for admitting to stealing from Downtown Waco Inc., but you have given more to this community than anyone ever could have asked.
Thank you for your long service to this community. I hope others will join me in hoping that you can put this behind you.

Go Baylor Bears!
I am Minnesota-born and live in Massachusetts. I always root for Tennessee. But although your women’s team beat Tennessee in the Elite Eight, I found myself rooting for them, as I was so impressed by their skills.
That made me a Baylor fan, and Monday’s game against Duke was one of the best games I’ve ever seen.
I now am wholeheartedly behind the Baylor women and hope to see them go all the way.
Congratulations to the team and your community.

Why must something that happened seven years ago involving the Baylor basketball team continue to be brought up [Trib March 31 “Inspirational” editorial]? Baylor went to the NIT finals last year and NCAA Elite Eight this year.
I believe Coach Scott Drew has this team going in the right direction, and things that he was not even involved in should not be brought up over and over in the media.

Columns appreciated
My wife and I very much appreciate the column in the Trib by Dr. Mike Attas. His insights help us understand the minds of physicians and the human side of their struggle. A newspaper serves the community well by publishing articles like these. Keep it up!
