LETTERS: Readers celebrate Toyota and their political favorites

Trust in Toyotas

Toyota automobiles are still as good as the best and better than the rest. It is shameful that we pulled Japanese auto executives over here to answer to Congress last week. This certainly does not do our international relations any good.

The major problem with Toyota is that they haven’t had to be subsidized with U.S. taxpayer money. I bet the real reason for all this inquiry is because Democrats are in the auto union’s pocket and will do all they can to destroy their competition.

I own a Toyota and there is no American car that I would trade it for. After buying only American cars and trucks all my life, I bought a body shop and that is when I realized that Toyota makes the best cars.

Political endorsements

With the current economic and political environment, the only logical choice for state senator for District 22 is candidate Darren Yancy.

I have gotten to know Yancy, and I’m impressed with his knowledge of the district and concern for his fellow constituents. He has a strong desire to make productive and efficient changes for District 22, but he still believes that constituents’ voices should be heard.

He has a wonderful family and is devoted to them. I hope others will support him on March 2.

Brad Cates is a man of integrity who would serve the people with honesty and excellence as judge in the County Court at Law.

Cates’ experience includes 28 years practicing criminal law, family law and general civil litigation, as well as experience in other areas, including probate, personal injury, consumer, contract and real estate law.

He is well prepared for this job, and we hope the people of McLennan County will vote for him.

I am urging readers to vote for Ben Perry as McLennan county commissioner, Precinct 4.

I have known Ben and his family for nearly 20 years.  He is a wonderful father to his two daughters. He has coached Little League and been active in schools.

He is an outstanding husband with honorable morals and a successful businessman who will make a strong and honest county commissioner. Please vote for Ben Perry on March 2.

I support Chet Edwards in his endeavor to stay in office — not because I agree with everything he has ever done but because of what he has accomplished in Congress for the communities he has served.

Edwards has helped many municipalities at all levels and local charitable organizations. He always puts forth his best effort and does so with zeal and uncompromising spirit. The Waco Veterans Hospital is one example. There are many who would say that Chet’s work is all about pork-barrel projects. I would counter that his efforts are in response to communities in need and not himself.
