More Ranger museum

According to the Trib’s Jan. 28 story, state regulators have determined that the Texas Ranger Museum not only is located on a cemetery but also a landfill.

My goodness. How much more are we going to sink into this tiny location?

I implore our folks in charge to pursue something else. Our museum deserves something better than a multistory facility that can be seen only from the top of the bridge over the river and is accessible from only one direction.

I suggest we return the land to the cemetery. I’m sure Baylor University would be able to put the present building to good use.

Let’s acquire some acreage between Dallas and Fort Worth and above Hillsboro where we could build another facility with room for campers. I bet visitors would come from every direction.

Then we could have our 70- to-90-foot-tall Ranger statue.

Let’s involve other cities. After all, the Rangers belong to all of Texas. Come on, all you movers and shakers of Waco, we can do better.

Give ‘Doc’ the boot

It looks like McLennan County GOP vice chairman M.A. Taylor has his friends writing letters to the Trib in support of state Rep. Charles “Doc” Anderson.

The first time Anderson ran for office, questions arose about his campaign contributions. I can forgive him for that, but the second time he ran, the same thing happened.

I can hear the old adage: “Do me wrong once, shame on you. Do me wrong twice, shame on me.”

Now Anderson hasn’t paid his income taxes, and everyone is sticking up for him.

Friends, it’s time for Anderson to go. If this was Margaret Mills — who is serving a nine-year prison term for stealing thousands of dollars from a downtown development agency — everyone would be calling for something to be done.

What will this man do next? We don’t need him to represent us. Go to the polls and vote him out.

Democracy fading

The Supreme Court did us no favors by giving corporations the green light to do what they do so well: dictate the decision-making process in Washington.

Both parties are controlled by the monetary influence of big corporations, while we the people have little or no influence. Look for this to continue. The plutocratic system is getting stronger while our democracy fades.

Natural energy

In his State of the Union address. President Barack Obama called for “a comprehensive energy and climate bill with incentives that will finally make clean energy the profitable kind of energy in America.”

Let’s harness the great potential of American innovation and ingenuity to reinstate America as a global leader in clean energy.

District realignments

The new UIL district realignment is absolutely absurd. It’s the worst I’ve seen. It will be hard on school districts, players, coaches and fans. I don’t understand this at all.
