EDITORIAL: Sweetening the deal
One thing we really like about matching grants: They’re good business. They’re like betting on a sure thing if everyone gets together and rallies around a common cause.
Which is why we encourage that you kick something in for a fundraising campaign to expand the Dr Pepper Museum, one of our city’s most popular attractions. The Dr Pepper Snapple Group announced it’ll make available as much as $750,000 to match donations, dollar for dollar, to mark the invention of the drink originally called the Waco. Only later did it become known as Dr Pepper.
As new Trib business writer Bill Teeter wrote this week, when the big expansion is done, it’ll include classroom space, administrative offices and, perhaps most importantly, a collections storage area.
The museum has massive holdings. That’s our legacy we’re talking about, something worth toasting.
