EDITORIAL: Sweet victories for Baylor Bears
When the Baylor men’s basketball team claimed an NCAA tournament victory last week, it was the first such win for the Bears in 60 years.
Now the Bears find themselves in the Sweet 16, bound for tough competition against St. Mary’s in the NCAA’s South Regional semifinals come Friday. We’re betting on the team to continue on, bound not only by the momentum of their recent victories but the gut feeling they have something to prove after some troubling days for the Bears several years ago.
Trib sportswriter John Werner tells us this team displays the best chemistry he’s seen in 23 years of covering Baylor basketball.
An online Texas fan registered disappointment the Horns hadn’t prevailed, but “Baylor is such a pleasant surprise it makes this tourney worth following. What a story! Go Bears, make the state and the Big 12 proud.” We concur.
