EDITORIAL: Looking for spring
We have no idea yet if Punxsutawney Phil forecast six more weeks of winter this morning, but overcast skies, frigid temperatures and lots of rain last month have us hoping for an early spring here in Central Texas. But if it doesn’t come to pass — well, we can take it.
A friend of the Trib editorial board told us of running into an acquaintance’s wife at Ridgewood Country Club last weekend and being surprised to learn that her husband had gone golfing, cold temperatures and pools of water on parts of the golf course notwithstanding. That kept him to nine holes rather than 18.
Our friend also learned that his clubhouse pal had dressed quite warmly, including two thick coats and three pairs of socks.
“What I want to know,” our friend mused, “is just how, bundled up like that, he ever managed to get off a good swing.”
