EDITORIAL: Here's to Torro and those among us who rendered aid
Speaking of our police, we thank those folks who have rallied to save the life of Torro, the 5-year-old Belgian Malinois K-9 officer who serves with Waco police officer Chip Weiser and searches for illicit drugs and missing people.
Our gratitude goes to Dallas-area veterinarian Dr. Becky Porterpan, who found a hospital for Torro when he came down with a kidney malady, helped raise funds, even furnished her frequent-flier miles so Torro could be properly escorted to a veterinary hospital at the University of California. Former Fuzzy Friends board member Sherry Tusa of Lorena fired up an account at Extraco Banks to help defray medical bills. Checks can be written to “Torro Medical Expenses” c/o Tiffany Littleton, 200 Hewitt Drive, Waco 76712.
Here’s hoping Torro’s prospects improve by Monday when the next full medical update is due.
