EDITORIAL: Help for the homeless, including Fido
We’re assured some of Waco’s homeless do read the Trib, so let’s take a moment to urge them to seek out assistance and updates on services available today through Project Homeless Connect, sponsored by the Heart of Texas Homeless Coalition.
This is the third year for the event. Coalition official Kenneth Moerbe tells us that it has been especially successful in providing key resources to homeless individuals and families.
Look for health screenings, hygiene items, dental treatment and eye care. Again, this is for homeless folks, not those in poverty.
Agencies involved include Mission Waco, the Salvation Army and Compassion Ministries. The Animal Birth Control Clinic will even help pets of the homeless with free vaccines and flea treatment.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Acts Christian Fellowship, South 13th Street and Mary Avenue.
