EDITORIAL: State bound athletes
Hearty congratulations to the many Central Texas athletes competing in several state golf and tennis tournaments this week.
An impressive number of Midway High School athletes are vying for Class 4A tennis and golf titles in Austin. The Panthers hope their brother-sister duo of Kenna and Kolby Kilgo will repeat as mixed doubles tennis champions, a title they claimed in 2010. And five Midway girls are hitting the links at the state golf tourney that ends today.
Whitney High School’s doubles tennis team of Andrea Rojas and Robin Wimberly were competing at the 2A state quarterfinals; while Groesbeck juniors Ethan McWhorter and Tim Brew were battling in the Class 3A doubles match.
Crawford High School golfer Jake Blenden was vying for a 2A title, while golfer Brady Kaufmann was representing Mart High School in Class 1A.
Good luck to all!
