EDITORIAL: Dog walk in the park
There will be plenty of happy tails wagging — some in colorful Halloween costumes — as pooches and (their owners) partake in the Fuzzy Friends Step Together Run, Race and Dogwalk on Saturday morning.
The 1K dog walk and 5K race benefits Waco’s Fuzzy Friends Rescue animal shelter — Waco’s no-kill rescue facility — and begins at Heritage Square.
This is the second annual dog walk and run that the facility has hosted. Organizers tell us they are encouraged by the public’s interest. Already 230 participants have signed up, said Becki Goss Shepherd, director of community outreach and development, adding they hope to meet the $17,000 raised from last year’s walk.
In addition, U.S. Olympic team marathoner Ryan Hall will give a training session and brunch right after the race. And Dogtopia is giving awards for best costume to dogs (and owners.) We say woof woof!
