EDITORIAL: Congrats, Lady Aggies
For all her physical and emotional exuberance on the court, Baylor Lady Bears Coach Kim Mulkey has always shown class in competitive athletics. That includes demanding sportsmanship and gracefully acknowledging when you’ve been bettered.
That in mind, we duly congratulate the Lady Aggies for winning their first NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship on Tuesday, a victory made possible, alas, when the team beat Baylor in tourney competition. The Lady Aggies returned home to a big bash in Aggieland on Wednesday, one which they certainly deserved. Our best to them.
The Lady Bears can console themselves, too. They not only put on a terrific, at times inspiring, season that tested stamina and willpower, they also beat this year’s national champs three times out of four this season — a not inconsiderable bragging point, we’d say.
