EDITORIAL: Clawing through the Big 12
Claws out and paws up.
Whatever else you can say about the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City this past week, Baylor University’s basketball teams displayed talent and drive aplenty throughout fierce competition.
Some of it came early, and at the expense of the University of Texas, whose Horns haven’t been much of a match for the Bears this season. Baylor’s men played UT three times this season, beating them every time, including Thursday’s 86-67 rout.
Propelled by new transfer Ekpe Udoh, third-seeded Baylor men initially seemed they could do no wrong as they clawed their way through the championship. The Lady Bears fought hard, too.
Both men’s and women’s teams faltered amid tough play Friday, but the thrill of those early victories will stay long with those of us who call ourselves fans, win or lose.
