Rickey Liles, of Lorena, Texas passed away peacefully on October 30, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 2, at Wilkerson-Hatch-Bailey-Chapel, with the Rev. Matt Bailey officiating, with gravesite services following at Waco Memorial Park, Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, November 1.
Rickey was born in Waco, Texas to G.Q. "Gib" and Martha Liles on February 10, 1952. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1970. He worked in the family brick mason business, G. Q. Liles & Sons Masonry Co., as well as other local brick mason companies, for over 40 years, until his retirement in 2004, due to health issues.
Rickey looked forward to deer season every year, enjoying the company of his deer hunting buddies, meeting friends at The Office, making fresh hot sauce every February at the beginning of NASCAR racing, barbecuing on the grill, sharing his cooking and baked items with close family, friends and neighbors, feeding the wild birds in his yard, and raising his chickens. He had a quick wit and ability to tell a good story, along with a joke or two, to bring laughter to all. Rickey had a deep love for his family and friends. He was a member of J.H.Gurley Masonic Lodge and the Karem Shrine in Waco, Texas.
Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, G.Q. and Martha Liles; and his brother, Ronnie Liles.
Survivors include his wife, of 45 years, Jonda Liles of Lorena, Texas; his two children, daughter, Tracey Latham and husband, Robby of Mansfield, and son, Kobey Liles and wife, Tanya of Dallas; grandchildren, Austin and Michaela Latham, and Milla and Neve Liles; brother, Quenton "Boony" Liles of Waco; sister, Becky Boynton and husband, Jerry of Lorena; as well as other relatives, many nieces and nephews, and special family friends.
Pall Bearers include deer lease buddies, Dwayne Hoffman, Gary Hoffman, Jay Boynton, Jeff Boynton, and special friends, Doug Jones and Ronnie Shotwell.
Honorary Pall Bearers include additional deer lease buddies, Jerry Boynton, Greg Jones, Joe Gerik, Steve Robinson, Mark Urbanovsky, and longtime friends, Ramon Canales, Steve Snow, Scooter Zucha, Mike Hootera, and Sutt Cutbirth.
The family is immensely grateful for the prayers, cards, and kind words from everyone who helped brighten the end of Rickey's life journey.
