Lt. Col. Vernon Johnson

Jan. 25, 1947 - Jan. 31, 2018

The Best Dad, The Greatest Husband, and Friend Vernon Garry Johnson, 71, went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2018, with his loving wife, Janice, by his side.

Vernon was born in Glenwood Minnesota on January 25, 1947. He went to Kerkhoven High School and graduated with honors; he was also a talented baseball player. He continued his education at Stout University in Wisconsin and later Wayne State University.

Vern enlisted with the United States Air Force and became a gifted fighter pilot and instructor; earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and was later stationed at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, he spent 20 years in the service.

He later worked as a cooperate pilot for Eastern Airlines for many years, and later McDonald Douglas in Waco, Shell Global Inc., Kitty Hawk Daft Inc., and Packless Industries. Vern also served as Senior Pilot for Baylor University.

Vern was very proud that he had the opportunity to have flown four American Presidents, Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush and family, George and Laura Bush, and Donald Trump. Vern also flew for sports teams, including: New York Yankee's, Pittsburg Pirates; along with many movie and country western stars, and politicians.

He is survived by his mother, Elveina Johnson of Sunburg Minnesota; son, Roy Johnson in Bloomington, Illinois; and wife, Janice Dobb Johnson of Waco.
