Dec. 19, 1931 - Nov. 30, 2017

Rita Reid Aycock of Hewitt, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 30, at 9:46 p.m. She was 85. She was blessed to be able to be in her home until her death.

Rita Josefina was born in Innsbruck, Austria, to Johann and Frieda Posch on December 19, 1931. She married John Wheeler Reid on July 1, 1953 in Salzburg, Austria. They moved to the U.S. where John was career military. Most of their married life was spent in Fort Hood, Texas. Rita was widowed at a young age and devoted her life to supporting and raising her seven children. She worked for Owens-Brockway for many years and retired in 1994 when she opened Genesis Antiques in downtown Waco where she used her European heritage and eye for antiques to spot the real thing!

She is survived by her son, Roy (Cheryl) Reid; daughter, Barbara Reid; daughter, Heidi Vick; daughter, Pat (Larry) Payne; son, Michael (Lisa) Reid and her daughter, Sheila (Peter) Torres. She was preceded in death and excited to reunite in heaven with her parents, husband and youngest son, Jamie. Rita, fondly called Oma, leaves a legacy of 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Oma will be remembered for her unwavering strength and the sacrifices made for her children, her kindness for others, her laughter, her unconditional love and her many stories of her early life in Austria!
