Families of old South Waco
By Terri Jo Ryan - Tribune-Herald staff writer
The working stiffs of old South Waco — the workers at its cotton mills, furniture manufacturers and even a pickle factory — added to the community’s prosperity even in hard times.
Much of old South Waco was swallowed up by Baylor University as it expanded over the decades. But before that took place, the area was home to parks, manufacturing industries, shops and residential neighborhoods.
Former residents of that area provided the photos we feature on this page today.
