Brazos Past: Famous Faces in Waco places — politics edition
By Terri Jo Ryan Special to the Tribune-Herald

Ronald Reagan, while governor of California, visited Baylor in the early 1970s and was presented with a copy of the patriotic recording, “Proudly They Came to Honor America,” by its producer, Robert M. Johnson.

During the summer lull before the political scene heats up again in the fall for off-season elections, Brazos Past thought it would be fun to dip into the wading pool of “Famous Faces in Waco places” without having to suffer from the mud-slinging of partisanship.
Presidents and candidates couldn’t resist the ready-made audience that came with a stop at Baylor University on a Waco itinerary.
And Baylor presidents, likewise, couldn’t resist the attention the university gained by playing host to distinguished “alumni” by conferring honorary degrees upon such august visitors.
If readers have photos of any “Famous faces in Waco places” they would like to share with our readership, please bring the images to the offices of the Tribune-Herald, 900 Franklin Ave., to be scanned in, or scan them at home and e-mail the images to Brazos Past reporter Terri Jo Ryan at tjryan@wacotrib.com.
