A woman suffered life-threatening injuries when she was hit by a car Sunday night in the 300 block of North Valley Mills Drive, Waco police Sgt. David Conley said.
Police were called to the area shortly before 7 p.m., after a 16-year-old Waco boy, who was driving north on North Valley Mills Drive, struck the woman near the former Casa Ole restaurant, Conley said.
Veronica Cabarrubia, 42, was walking from the west side of the roadway toward the east side when she was hit by the car, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said. Cabarrubia did not use a crosswalk, he said.
Conley said the woman carried a purse, but had no identification on her at the time of the crash. She was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center with critical injuries.
Conley said the 16-year-old was not hurt. It was unknown if speed was a factor in the crash.
Police closed North Valley Mills Drive while the scene was investigated. Conley said the boy was not initially cited in the crash, but the investigation remained ongoing late Sunday night.
