A U.S. Postal Service truck struck a gas meter on Chapel Drive, near the Hewitt Drive intersection, causing the road to be briefly shut down Wednesday.
Although the wreck ruptured a 6-inch gas line and initially raised fears of a gas leak, on-scene first responders were able to turn off the valve quickly, fire officials said. No evacuations were necessary.
The occupants of the vehicles involved in the wreck, which included a postal service employee and the driver of a Mustang, did not report serious injuries, according to police.
