The end of a West Waco strip mall suffered significant damage after a suspected intoxicated driver crashed into the building late Thursday night, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Police were called to the intersection of Rambler Drive and Sanger Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. after a vehicle reportedly struck the Aqua Texas building. The driver did not appear to be injured and was waiting for police after the crash, Swanton said.

Police believe alcohol may have played a factor in the crash, he said. Police did not release the identity of the woman driving.

Jail records indicate a 24-year-old Waco woman was arrested on a DWI charge after the crash. Swanton said he was unable to verify if the woman was connected to the crash into the building.

The investigation remained ongoing Friday afternoon, Swanton said.
