McLennan County sheriff’s deputies continued Friday to investigate the discovery of about four pounds of marijuana in a North Waco residence after finding about two ounces during a traffic stop late Thursday night.
A deputy stopped Lawrence Lewis Love, 25, in the 2200 block of University Parks Drive about 11:30 p.m. Thursday and detected “a strong smell of marijuana,” said Chief Deputy Sheriff Matt Cawthon.
The deputy arrested Love and took him to McLennan County Jail on a charge of possession of marijuana over two ounces and less than four ounces. Cawthon said the deputy also found $3,700 in the vehicle.
Deputies then went to the residence and received consent to search it from a person there. They found another four pounds of marijuana and $7,100 in cash. They did not arrest the occupant, but an investigation continues, Cawthon said.
Officials at the jail said Love had posted $2,000 bond on the charge of possession of the lesser amount and was released.
