Waco police are warning of a man suspected of following residents from local banks and breaking into their cars in hopes of finding newly withdrawn money left behind.

Residents have reported at least two vehicle burglaries after being followed from a bank, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said in a press release.

Waco police are working with another local agency investigating a similar burglary, Swanton said. In that case, a school employee reported her vehicle was broken into after she returned to work from the bank on her lunch break. She was followed by a black vehicle, Swanton said.

Each of the burglaries have happened around noon, he said.

"We are encouraging our citizens to be vigilant and constantly aware of their surroundings," Swanton said. "We also advise if you believe that you’re being followed to go to a safe place and immediately dial 911."

No arrests had been made Wednesday.
