Police are investigating after a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg during a disturbance with another man over a woman Sunday, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Police were called to the 1100 block of Calumet Avenue shortly before noon after two men had gotten into an argument. Swanton said the 31-year-old man said the two were arguing over a woman when the suspect allegedly shot the man in his knee.

Swanton said the suspect is a known acquaintance to the victim, but he fled the area before police arrived. The victim was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center by a private vehicle.

The man was treated for a non-life-threatening injury to his leg, Swanton said. No arrests were made by late Monday morning and the investigation remains ongoing.
