Police are searching for an armed suspect who robbed a Dollar General store wearing a Halloween mask and ran from the East Waco store Tuesday night, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Police were called to Dollar General, 205 E. Waco Drive, shortly before 9 p.m. after a man wearing a long-sleeve white T-shirt, gray sweatpants, brown hiking boots and a "Scream" mask entered the store with a long gun. Swanton said the man pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded money.

The clerk complied with the suspect, who took an undisclosed amount of money and left the store. Swanton said the clerk was not injured, but police believe the Dollar General robbery may be connected to the Monday night robbery at Johnny's Food Mart.

A man wearing a stocking over his face robbed Johnny's Food Mart, 1824 Richter Ave., at gunpoint late Monday night and stole packages of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash. The man fled the food mart and may have gotten into a black, four-door vehicle that appeared to be waiting on Daughtrey Avenue, police said.

No arrests have been made in either robbery. Swanton said both cases remain under investigation.
