Police have identified a man who was found dead in a drainage ditch along Waco Drive this weekend as a local resident, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The body of Jeffery Walton Parker, 52, was found after police were called to 2801 W. Waco Drive on a report of an unconscious man lying in a drainage culvert Sunday afternoon. Swanton said Parker was found dead at the location, but he did not indicate how Parker died.

He lived in the immediate area, Swanton said.

Justice of the Peace Walter H. “Pete” Peterson ordered an autopsy as police continue to investigate Parker's death. The preliminary autopsy report states the manner of death has not been determined.

Swanton said police continue to investigate the incident as a "questionable death." No other information will be available until police receive the results of the autopsy, he said.
