Five men and a juvenile suspect were arrested early Monday morning after Waco police responded to reports of auto burglaries at a northwest Waco apartment complex.

A witness called police after they saw a car being broken into at the Highland Apartments, 1600 Lake Shore Drive, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Police found "numerous vehicles" had been burglarized at the apartment complex and later arrested the suspects in a vehicle that Swanton said was stolen from the 2200 block of Bosque Boulevard.

The victim in the stolen vehicle case left her vehicle running and unoccupied and it was taken about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Swanton said.

Police arrested Anthony Smith, 19; Tevin Jamaal Horne, 20; Kelvin Watkins III, 17; Jamarion Quientay Atkins, 17; and Dayveon Marquis Rougely, 17, all of Waco, on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity. A juvenile also was detained in the incidents, Swanton said.

The police crime scene unit collected evidence and property stolen from the vehicles, Swanton said. The stolen vehicle was returned to its owner.
