Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a car in a convenience store parking lot near North 18th Street and Colcord Avenue on Monday evening, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Police were called to a convenience store at 1234 N. 18th Street shortly after 6 p.m. when a 52-year-old Waco man was reportedly struck by the rear of a car.

Emergency responders took the man to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center for treatment, and he was pronounced dead Tuesday morning, shortly after midnight. Details of the man's injuries were not immediately available.

Police declined to release the man's name, pending notification of family.

Swanton said police spoke to the driver of the car at the scene. No arrests have been made. Accident reconstruction detectives are continuing to investigate the crash.
