A Friday night party that extended into Saturday morning turned violent after a male suspect attempted to steal an Xbox, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

At about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a home in the 300 block of Wagon Wheel Circle, Swanton said. During the party, one of the residents saw a male try to steal the video game system from a bedroom, and a physical altercation ensued, he said.

Residents tried to end the party and remove the suspect, according to Swanton, and friends of the suspect came back to the house and started an altercation. One of those who returned to the house allegedly beat three of the residents with a pistol.

The suspect with the pistol then stole an iPhone from the pocket of one of the residents, Swanton said, and discharged the weapon into the ceiling.

The theft suspect and assault suspect fled the scene, he said. Waco police are investigating the aggravated robbery and aggravated assault, and no arrests have been made.
