A 30-year-old man was arrested Thursday, accused of spanking a 2-year-old girl, leaving bruises on her body, an arrest affidavit states.

Cristian Samuel Martinez, of Waco, was arrested after a Waco police Crimes Against Children investigator received information about the girl's injuries from her mother last month, according to the affidavit. During the investigation, the girl's older sibling also indicated Martinez had hurt the girl during spankings, the affidavit states.

"Due to the victim's age, (the investigator) observed a forensic interview of the victim's older siblings, who both indicated … the defendant spanked them hard and leaves 'ouchies,' indicating brusing and injuries," the affidavit states.

Photographs were taken of the girl's injuries the day after she received them, and Martinez told police during an interview that he spanked the girl, resulting in the visible injuries, according to the affidavit.

Police arrested Martinez Thursday on a state jail felony charge of injury to a child. He was released from McLennan County Jail on Thursday on a $5,000 bond.
