More than 100 tires and more than 20 florescent light bulbs were dumped in two locations around Lorena within the last week, leaving police searching for anyone responsible, Lorena Police Chief Tom Dickson said.

County road and bridge officials found two piles of abandoned tires near Rosenthal Parkway and Birdie Lane and near Interstate 35 and Callan Ranch Road earlier this week. Dickson said the tires and light bulbs were piled on abandoned property.

"There are car tires, ATV tires, motorcycle tires, lawn mower tires and just a lot of other different kinds of tires," Dickson said. "Then the light bulbs might have been taken out of a business and just thrown out when they didn't need them."

Jail trustees have picked up the discarded items, he said.

Dickson said police are continuing to investigate, and he encouraged anyone with information to call Lorena police at 857-9614 or Waco Crime Stoppers at 753-4357.
