A 6-year-old girl died Tuesday evening after she was injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash on China Spring Road on Sunday afternoon, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. David Roberts said.

Troopers were called to China Spring Road, about a quarter mile east of Aggie Way, after a 2000 Ford SUV, driven by Ronnie Lee Kelley, 31, of Valley Mills, traveled off the road and rolled onto its side at about 2 p.m. Sunday. Roberts said the 6-year-old girl, a passenger in the SUV, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Emergency responders took the girl by air ambulance to McLane Children's Hospital in Temple. She was pronounced dead Tuesday evening.

Roberts said other passengers in the SUV included Jamie Faichtinger, 39, and a 14-year-old boy. Authorities did not release details about any injuries to the driver or other passengers.

The 6-year-old girl was not properly restrained at the time of the crash, troopers stated. Roberts said the investigation remains ongoing.

"Texas DPS would like to take this tragic loss to remind motorists of the importance of using safety belts and proper child restraint systems," Roberts wrote in a statement.
