Talk of the Neighborhood highlights Central Texans’ achievements.

 

* Applause *

* The Texas Department of Transportation has appointed Mike “Jabo” Jablonowski as Limestone County maintenance supervisor, effective Tuesday. Jablonowski will be responsible for all day-to-day transportation maintenance activities for the 769 highway lane-miles within the 909 square miles of Limestone County.

He has more than 15 years of experience with TxDOT in construction and maintenance. Except for a two-year period as a construction inspector, he has worked in maintenance for his entire career in both the Waco and Bryan districts.

He and his wife, Amie, live in Riesel and have two sons, Russell, 19, and Tristen, 17.

 

* Class Acts *

Hillary+DavidsonHillary Davidson, of China Spring, was recently nominated for “Who’s Who Among American College and Universities.”

Hillary is a senior business management and marketing major at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin. She also was named to the American Southwest Conference fall all-academic honor roll. She is the daughter of Jon and Sherri Davidson of China Spring.

* Waco native Jason Keiningham was one of eight Texas Forest Service employees who graduated from the agency’s first 18-month Leadership Enrichment Program. Keiningham is a program coordinator.

Donnie Petty, of Waco, graduated from Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

* Area students named to honor rolls at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls for the fall semester were:

President’s honor roll — Megan Chartier, of Gatesville; Timothy Westmoreland, of Hubbard.

Dean’s honor roll — Tammy Mader, of Waco.

* Three local students were inducted into Tarleton State University’s Delta Mu Delta Honor Society in business. They are Ashley Michelle Barnes, a business management major from Waco; Brittany Dumas, a marketing major from China Spring; and Denise Marie Watson, an accounting major from Penelope. Students must be in the top 20 percent of the class to qualify.

* Local students making the honors lists at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La., were Caleb Joel Baze, dean’s list, and Carla J. Haines, president’s list.

Stephanie Luna, of Axtell, was recently initiated into membership of the Alpha Gamma Delta Chapter of Tarleton State University in Stephenville. Luna is the daughter of Sherri Peterson and Sid Rose, of Axtell.

* Two Hewitt residents were named to academic honors lists at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin for the fall semester. Bethany Anne Dietrich made the provost’s list. Brian Ray Dietrich was named to the dean’s list.
