Talk of the Neighborhood highlights Central Texans’ achievements.

 

* Class Acts *

Chelsey Carrigan (right), a 2007 graduate of Robinson High School, graduated magna cum laude Dec. 18 from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in radio, television and film.

Chelsey is the daughter of Pat and Christie Carrigan, of Robin-son. She is employed by Disney Corp. in Orlando, Fla.

Melissa Russell, of Waco, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from LeTourneau University in Longview.

Michelle Carrigan (left), a 2010 graduate of Robinson High School, was named to the dean’s list at the University of Texas for the fall semester. She is a public relations major. MIchelle is the daughter of Pat and Christie Carrigan, of Robinson.

* Connally High School graduate Cody Dulock, of Elm Mott, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Wagner College in New York City. He is majoring in government and politics.

Kasey Allen Headley was named to the dean’s academic honor list for the fall semester at West Texas A&M in Canyon. He is a member of the West Texas A&M bowling team.

Kasey is the son of Kyle and Deborah Headley and the grandson of Sue Headley, all from Axtell.

Craig Gummelt, of Hewitt, was named to the fall dean’s list with honors at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.

Marie Nicole Trower, of Hewitt, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Drury University in Springfield, Mo.

Gabriela Segura, of Waco, was named to the honors list for the fall semester at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa.

John Barnett, of Axtell, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. Rockhurst University is one of 28 Catholic, Jesuit universities in the United States.

Jane Millar, of Waco, has been named to the dean’s list at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., for the Advent 2010 term. She is the daughter of Jana and Patrick Millar.

Elidia G. Berg, a 12th-grader from Waco, earned highest honors for the fall term at Phillips Exeter Academy, a co-educational residential school in Exeter, N.H. Her parents are Bruce Berg and Joan Brickley.

 

* In the Military *

* Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Jimmy G. Ervin has been mobilized and activated at Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., in preparation for deployment overseas to serve in support of Operation New Dawn (formerly called Operation Iraqi Freedom).

Ervin is a 1983 graduate of Clarksville High School. His wife, Rosalie, is the daughter of Steve Guerro, of McGregor.
