Baylor piano teacher shares skills in Iraq

Bradley Bolen (left), Baylor University’s senior lecturer in piano, will go to great lengths to spread his love for the piano. This summer he taught young students in Iraq and other Middle East nations despite the unrest and danger in that region. During his travels for an organization called American Voices, Bolen encountered some talented musicians, but especially Boran Zaza (right), an 18-year-old student in the Institute of Fine Arts at Erbil, Kurdistan. Boran has only played piano for three years but is remarkably proficient and hopes to become the first professional piano teacher in Kurdistan. Sitting between them is Boran’s only student, Hoshi.
