National Charity League honors graduating seniors

The National Charity League-Waco honored its graduating seniors for their volunteer work. Through National Charity League, an organization dedicated to mothers and daughters serving the community together, the senior class of 2010 worked more than 177 hours this past year with service organizations in the Waco area. The “Merci” award for most service hours went to member Carly Connally. Applause for Crawford One-Act Play

Crawford High School’s One-Act Play was chosen as the alternate to the regional contest. The play advanced from the zone and district contests to reach the area level. The group will perform scenes from Noel Coward’s play “Blythe Spirit” at the Waco Hippodrome on Thursday evening, though a time has not been set. Water wells for Haiti

For four days this spring, the Spanish Club and the Fellowship of Christian Students sold ice cream sundaes to Midway High School students to help Haiti after its earthquake and to provide better access to clean water. They raised $1,500 from the sundae sales and donations. With the donation, three water wells will be drilled in Haiti through Living Water International. She keeps them flying

Inez Bonneville, an aviation maintenance program specialist at Texas State Technical College-Waco, won two scholarships from the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance that will provide her with advance training opportunities. Only a handful of recipients receive the scholarships. An airframe and powerplant mechanic, Bonneville will use her training to work on TSTC’s Pratt & Whitney engines and help establish a lab at the college.

Waco High Mock Trial team finishes 7th at state

The Waco High Mock Trial team placed seventh at the state competition in Dallas. The team is coached by Jason Dalrymple, who was on the Waco High team as a student 12 years ago and went to the state competition.
