Eagle Scouts at Reicher

Eight Eagle Scouts graduated with the Reicher Catholic High School class of 2011. That’s 30 percent of the males in Reicher’s graduating class. Pictured are (front row, from left) Roderick Chacon, John Ekman, Alex Simpson, Collin Kubacak, (back row) Chris Gerik, Mark Ellis, Parks Walker and Beau Bolfing. Six are members of Waco’s Troop 308; Ellis belongs to Mexia Troop 70 and Simpson is part of China Spring Troop 444.

Award-winning quilt

Molly Culp, of Waco, is shown with her quilt, “Autumn Serenade,” which won the Longarm Machine Quilting Award at the 2011 American Quilter’s Society Quilt Show and Contest in Paducah, Ky. The quilt took about three years and nearly 300 hours of quilting to make.

Seeing off the shuttle

Bradley, Melissa, Caitlin and Kendal Phillips, Phil Mott (center), and Yvonne and Charles Mott traveled to Cape Canaveral, Fla., to see the last launch of the space shuttle Endeavor on May 16. The Endeavor carried the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) to be installed on the International Space Station. Phil Mott, the son of Charles and Yvonne Mott, of Robinson, is the project manager for the AMS, which he has worked on for 12 years. He is a graduate of Robinson High School and Texas A&M University.
