Baylor University will debut a show on the Waco public radio station KWBU-FM next month that will feature interviews with school administrators, professors and other top officials.

“Baylor Connections” will air for 30 minutes at 11 a.m. each Friday starting Jan. 5. The first episode will feature an interview with Baylor President Linda Livingstone, according to a university press release.

“There are so many great stories across Baylor that are not being told,” Baylor spokesman Jason Cook wrote in the press release. “ ‘Connections’ will not only introduce listeners to these stories, but the long interview format will provide additional commentary and context that you simply cannot get in a 30-second sound bite.”

Derek Smith, a senior marketing and communications specialist at Baylor and athletics broadcaster, will host the show.

Other guests scheduled for the show in January include cancer researcher Kevin Pinney, religion and prosocial behavior researcher Byron Johnson and recovery program coordinator Lilly Ettinger, who works at the Beauchamp Addiction Recovery Center.

The program will also be available at baylor.edu/connections and via podcast.

Phillip has covered higher education for the Tribune-Herald since November 2015.
