The Texas Department of Transportation plans to close Old Robinson Road on the east side of Loop 340 in Robinson during daylight hours Thursday and Friday for a contractor to form and pour concrete for median islands, according to a TxDOT announcement.
If weather permits, the road will be closed from 8:30 to 5 p.m. each day. Message boards will be placed to advise motorists of the work, spokesman Ken Roberts said in the announcement. The road will be open overnight.
“The work is part of an ongoing multiphase project to increase safety and efficiency by extending frontage roads along Loop 340 from Interstate 35 northeast to U.S. 77, as well as adding an overpass at Old Robinson Road,” Roberts said.
Depending on weather, the project will be finished by the fall of 2018.
“Motorists can expect temporary lane closures, flaggers and temporary delays within the project area for the duration of the project,” Roberts said. “TxDOT cautions motorists to be alert for construction personnel and equipment in the work areas.”
