A Waco Fire Department crew responded to a house fire at 415 Mount Lookout Drive Wednesday evening after seeing smoke from a short distance away.

Flames were seen coming through the roof of the large, three-story home. It was unoccupied at the time, and there were no reported injuries to anyone living in the area. A renter living in a guest house on the property was evacuated, but the guest house was not damaged.

Crews remained on the scene late Wednesday after the fire was brought under control.

The home is located near Miss Nellie's Pretty Place in a Cameron Park neighborhood.

The Waco Fire Department had a crew staged in the area, and the crew responded after seeing the smoke around 6:30 p.m.

Thick, black smoke could be seen for several miles as Waco Police shut down traffic near the scene. One firefighter received medical attention for heat exhaustion and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
