All unincorporated areas in McLennan County are prohibited from outdoor burning due to windy and dry conditions, McLennan County officials stated.

Earlier this week, County Judge Scott Felton issued a burn ban in unincorporated areas in McLennan County prohibiting outdoor fires and use of welders or cutting torches. McLennan County Commissioners Court unanimously voted for the burn ban because of a public safety hazard due to the lack of a reasonable expectation of significant rainfall.

County officials said the burn ban does not include grills, barbecues or smokers that are fully covered to cook food. Open grills, barbecues and smokers are prohibited.
