Fire marshals are continuing to investigate an East Waco house fire that destroyed a vacant home early Thursday morning, Waco Fire Marshal Kevin Vranich said.

Firefighters were called to the 1000 block of Elm Avenue shortly after 2 a.m., when flames and smoke were seen coming from the home. The fire had engulfed almost half the home and had severely damaged the roof by the time fire crews arrived.

Vranich said the house was deemed a complete loss, and an investigation into the cause continues.

Fire crews reported that the home was vacant and no one was injured.

Vranich said investigators returned to the home later Thursday morning to collect additional evidence and information. No preliminary determination has been made on the cause.
