Chelsea Connell (left) of the Bosqueville FFA was one of the winners in the Calf Scramble event at the recent Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Connell received a $500 purchase certificate from Ed Bass, Stock Show board chairman. The prize will help Connell buy a beef or dairy heifer for a 4-H or FFA project. She is the daughter of Ricky and Jenay Heckel.

McLennan County Farm Bureau will host a Farmers’ Share lunch at Vitek’s BBQ, 1600 Speight Ave., from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.

The event will allow participants to share a meal with producers who provide the food. There also will be a question-and-answer period.

Customers will only pay for 16 percent of their meal. The Farm Bureau will pay the balance.

The 16 percent represents the amount farmers receive from each food dollar.

Election winner

Dennis Sigler was recently elected president of the Texas Quarter Horse Association.

Sigler is Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s horse specialist and a professor in the department of animal science at Texas A&M.
