Free program spotlights lawn management
Texas AgriLife Extension Service in McLennan County is sponsoring a free program on home lawn management and maintenance from 9-11:30 a.m. April 5 at the Carleen Bright Arboretum, 9001 Bosque Blvd. in Woodway.
Jim McAfee, Texas AgriLife Extension Service turf grass specialist, will discuss how to get a lawn going after a wet, cold and harsh winter.

Getting answers
The McLennan County Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions about lawns, gardens and other horticulture- related topics from 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the McLennan County Extension office, 420 N. Sixth St.

Vegetable gardening
Texas AgriLife Extension Service in McLennan County is sponsoring a free course on vegetable gardening from 1-4:30 p.m. April 5 at the Carleen Bright Arboretum, 9001 Bosque Blvd. in Woodway.
Topics covered by Joe Masabani, Texas AgriLife Extension Service vegetable specialist, will include vegetable gardening, tomato varieties that work in Central Texas, fertility, soil preparation, and insect and disease control.

Small Grain Field Day
Texas AgriLife Extension is sponsoring its annual Small Grain Field Day from 8:45 a.m.-noon April 23 at Huffman Fields on Highway 84 near McGregor.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Topics will include variety trial tour, small grain insects, marketing small grains, and laws and regulations. Lunch will be provided after the event.

County water
Texas AgriLife Extension is sponsoring “Water: Where We Are and Where We are Going in McLennan County” from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 28 at the Brazos River Authority, 4600 Cobbs Drive.

Crop tour
Texas AgriLife Extension is sponsoring an Eastside Row Crop Tour beginning at 8 a.m. June 11 in the cafeteria at Riesel High School.
