Grandparents of girls testify in Matt Baker custody trial
Associated Press
KERRVILLE — Parents of an ex-minister and the wife for whose death he’s imprisoned pleaded for custody of the two daughters left behind.
Matt Baker’s 11- and 15-year-old daughters live in Kerrville with his parents, Oscar and Barbara Baker. The parents of dead wife Kari Baker, Jim and Linda Dulin, of Woodway, are suing for custody.
The Kerrville Daily Times reports Linda Dulin testified she and her husband want the girls “to grow into whole, healthy women.”
She said “they can only do that if they can stop living in a lie” — that is, belief that their mother killed herself.
But Oscar Baker said he can’t share parenting with the Dulins because “they have their way of parenting, and we have our way of parenting.”
Testimony resumes today in Kerrville.
