Former Baptist minister Matt Baker posted bond and left McLennan County Jail late Friday afternoon. His bond was $250,000.

On Thursday, 19th State District Judge Ralph Strother lowered the bond to that amount from a previous $500,000 after declaring Baker indigent.

Baker, 37, is charged with drugging and smothering his wife, Kari, at their Hewitt home as their two daughters slept down the hall in April 2006.

In numerous media interviews, Baker has denied that he killed his wife and has said she committed suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping pills because she was despondent over the death of their daughter.
