Details of Dewhurst's wedding emerge

Turns out that Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst's wedding June 27 — the details of which have generally been kept under wraps — was quite a nice affair.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst

Known fact: He married Tricia Hamilton Bivins, a Houston attorney, in a private ceremony in a chapel at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston.

New fact: There were between 50 and 100 people in attendance, only family, close friends and Dewhurst's chief of staff and former chief of staff.

New fact: He wore a black tux. She wore a cream-colored gown.

New fact: As the newly married couple walked back up the aisle to leave the church, Dewhurst picked up his 5-year-old stepdaughter, Carolyn, and carried her out with them.

New fact: Then everyone went "ahhhh," in unison.

Honeymoon? In Colorado or California now that the special session is over.

You asked Dome for more details. We asked Dewhurst.

"What are you, TMZ?" quipped a staffer standing nearby.

One name out of the 2010 hat

We can evidently count one Democrat out of consideration for governor in 2010. Gov. Rick Perry released a list of financial supporters Monday that includes AT&T executive John Montford, the former Lubbock state senator who'd been rumored to be weighing his own run for governor as a Democrat.

Montford's office confirmed that he is helping organize a Perry campaign event in San Antonio.

And Montford followed up: "I am supporting the governor in his re-election bid."

The list also offered this twist: The wife of a previous Perry backer who's gone over to Kay Bailey Hutchison's camp, Louis Beecherl of Dallas, is sticking with Perry. Her name: Julie Beecherl. Louis Beecherl has been announced as one of Hutchison's finance chairs.

Likewise, Perry lists Gina Bridwell of Abilene as a backer. Her husband, Tucker, is among Hutchison's finance chairs.
