POLICE NEWS: Man, 40, arrested in sex with girl younger than 18

Saturday, November 07, 2009

A local band manager was arrested Thursday after an investigation into a sexual relationship police say he had with a girl younger than age 18 earlier this year.

Rance Peyton Stepp, 40, is charged with four counts of sexual assault of a child and three counts of enticing a child. He remained jailed Friday night in lieu of $750,000 bond, a McLennan County Jail spokeswoman said.

Police said that on three occasions during an 18-day period in July, Stepp picked the girl up from her parents’ home and drove her to Lake Waco to have sex, according to arrest warrant affidavits filed in the case.

The girl’s mother, who has primary custody of the child, did not consent to Stepp’s taking her, the affidavits state. This was the basis of the enticement charges.

Stepp is the drummer and manager for Isolating Ellis, a Waco band.

Regardless of her age, she was a child. Any 40 year old man should have the sense not to enter a sexual relationship with a young girl. The age of consent is not determined by the girls ability nor desire for intimacy but the maturity to make that decision. In this case it was his responsibility to act appropriately. The fact is he was a newly wed straying with little girl and to blame the child and not the adult is outrageous.

Okay "really now", wherever you're getting your statistics from is WRONG. 13 years old is not the "norm" age for sex. But anyway, just because she willingly went with him doesn't matter. At her age she can't LEGALLY CONSENT to having sex with a 40 year old man. Please quit placing blame on the victim. Any 16 year old involved with a married 40 year old man is obviously not aware of the consequences. It's clear to adults that this is detrimental to her mental health. I'm pretty sure her mother didn't report as a gesture to prove her authority to her daughter. You're an idiot.

Really.....The girl is old enough to consent....Read up on Texas law she consented to or she would not have gotten into the truck with Rance multiple times she did it on her free will...I think her mom found out and called the cops about it just because shes not 18 her mom can have the law involved even if the girl didnt want her to....Obviously she had accused someone before according to ST.....Her credibility will come into play...FOOD FOR THOUGHT The norm age of people having sex is get this 13....Disgusting but true...

Yeah, whatever. He's a pervert. He got married in APRIL and then in July, less than three months later, is having sex with a teenager? That is not the same thing as marrying someone younger, it is sexual abuse of a child...and that would NOT have been ok in the "old days." In the "old days" her father would have taken care of it long before the law got involved. As far as it being consensual, there is no such thing as consensual sex with a minor, who has not reached the age of consent. He is a 40 year old, chronically unemployed man who wants to be a rock star. He preyed on this child. How old was she, anyway?

YOU KNOW THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR CASE. I WILL PERSONALLY SEEK THE HIS LEGAL CONSUL AND COMBINE STOREIS. IF IT IS THE SAME GIRL WHO ACCUSED THIS GUY, THEN THIS WILL OPEN THE DOOR TO ANOTHER CRIME THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. SHE BETTER HOPE THAT I DONT FIND OUT ABOUT THIS..

Yes, the 750K is non-sense, and makes the prosecution side look ridiculous. Some body who commited a murder could bail out for less. The guy who bonded for 50K probbly bailed out for 5K via the 10% rule. And the 10% bail of Stepp's charges is still more than the 50K of the other guy! This makes no sense! This story is very fishy, there are way too many pieces missing, and if more than one person seems to notice it, then obviously something is very wrong on either side, defendant, or prosectuor. Maybe they should charge a punishment that actually fits the crime. Obviously everything was consensual, why else would she choose to leave with him more than once? I mean, she could have easily said no, and brought everything up to her mother a long time ago, but she didn't. They are way too many pieces missing to this story. I don't think this guy is "sicko", especially if everything was consensual. And as for the mom, who knows. Inticing is taking the girl without the parental guardians consent. In the olde times, age of marriage was crazy, 31 and 16, 19 and 14, whatever. The age of either male or female did not matter, but our society now belittles everything by a number. Back to the topic, 3/4 of a million dollars is non-sense. I hope their will be updates to all of this. This is a very interesting case.

Why is this guy under a $750,000 bond and the guy who is charged with molesting a young boy bonded at $50,000? Was it the three counts of inticing? If the mother didn't consent to the girl leaving with him, why didn't she report it as kidnapping the first time? Why wait until he picked her up and had sex with her three times before reporting it? I want all child molesters to burn in the hottest place in hell, but there seems to be something fishy about this story. Exactly how far under 18 was she?
