Marijuana arrest in Coryell County

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

A 30-year-old Gatesville man is accused by Coryell County officials of growing marijuana in his backyard near a school, a finding discovered by officers using a police helicopter.

David Don Bradley is charged with possession of marijuana, more than 4 ounces and less than 5 pounds, in a drug-free zone. He was released on bond from the Coryell County Jail late Monday.

After receiving a tip about suspected marijuana growers, officials with the Gatesville Police Department and Coryell County Sheriff’s Office flew over the area Monday using the Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter and saw Bradley’s crop in the 100 block of Elm Street from the air, a Gatesville police release states.

Officials said they saw Bradley cutting a marijuana plant and attempting to conceal it before leaving his property in his vehicle, the release states.

Bradley was stopped by police several blocks from his house. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in his car, the release states.

A property search yielded one 6 1/2-foot-tall marijuana plant, a drying marijuana plant and other drug paraphernalia, the release states.

The Associated Press contributed to this story.

Yea,i had 1 single plant and the county spent so much time and effort to "take down" my one plant!!The second plant was not drying, but a dead male with no buds on it,muchless THC. I feel so bad for the police and media for making this such a big deal. And to any of you hardcore smokers who think they might be able to help, feel free to email me at donemine420@yahoo.com. Advice or whatever,i might even need some supporters come court time. Be careful out there, dont smoke pot,all other crimes are tolerated it looks like though.

THANK GOD!!!! Now I know I can sleep better at night knowing that ONE pot plant was confiscated! Never mind the thugs, robbers, child molesters, white collar criminals swindling old people out of their life savings, wife beaters, and rapists... At least one BIG TIME DRUG DEALER was taken down. I bet it cost more to get the chopper in the air than the pot plant was worth. I bet "Rosco" is patting himself on the back tonight.

Thank goodness this evildoer is off the streets. (Is my sarcasm coming through?)

At least he won't be able to......garden and dry plants anymore. Huh? Doesn't sound so bad when you say it like that.

Which is sadder: that they used a helicopter to find a couple of plants or that it made for a story in the paper and will probably lead the evening news tonight.

ONE PLANT!?!?!! This just goes to show how much time our law enforcement has to jerk around. One stoner gardener growing one large Sativa to tide him through this holiday season, just to get busted by the man.

Our law enforcement spends more time busting local citizens and kids with stupid small amounts of weed than they do going after the Mexican cartel members. For that one plant they wasted their time on, 50 Mexican probably just walked over the border with 1000 pounds...

Way to go!
